Stock related news & regulations of Security Exchange Board of Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) has said that it will now allow trading of odd lot shares (shares below 10 units) during regular trading hours and days.

Investors will be allowed to buy and sell less than 10 units of shares during regular trading days after Sunday.
Previously, odd lot shares could be trading only Fridays.

The trading of odd lot shares, however, will not affect the indices at Nepse. Trading during regular trading hours (11 am to 3 pm, Sunday to Thursday) could be done for only 10 units or multiple of 10 units (for example: 20 units, 30 units and so on) of shares.

Units of shares that could not be completely divided (without decimal points) by 10 (like 23 and 10,801) would ‘get killed’ by the system.

The new arrangement introduced by Nepse will allow the system to execute the orders even in odd lots, according to a statement posted by Nepse on its website on Friday.
